Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound is commonly used to treat soft tissue and sports injuries. Unlike diagnostic ultrasound, which sees the inside of the body, therapeutic ultrasound provides deep heating treatments to increase circulation, speed healing and reduce pain in muscles, tendons, joints and ligaments.

Therapeutic ultrasound may be used to treat:

  • Bursitis
  • Ligament Sprains
  • Muscle Strains
  • Tendonitis/Tendonosis
  • Joint Inflammation
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis

During ultrasound therapy, a transducer or applicator is in direct contact with your skin. Gel is used to reduce friction and assist in transmission of the ultrasonic waves. The transducer is moved over the surface of the skin in the region of the injury. You may feel a slight warming sensation.
